Man Utd Asia Tour 2009

It was last week on the 17th & 18th of July when Man Utd came to the town to play against Malaysia after they last played 8 years ago. Compare to the last 8 years the whole team had gone a major transformation with most of the players are different from the last years except for the seniors like Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Wes Brown. As a football lover but not a Man Utd fan, I simply cannot afford to miss this once in a decade match especially with a top class team playing in our very own country. I was one of the early buyer therefore I was given the training pass which was on Friday.
( I was a disguised Man Utd fan, I am always a Chelsea fan)

In my opinion, the training day was completely sucks. Prior to the stadium I spent 45 minutes inside the LRT cramming in between so many people and worst still the air-conditioned was not fully functioning. Fully expecting something good to see, the training was so boring that I almost slept. The players were just running around playing some passing for only 1 hour. Damn ! I waited for 1 hour 45 minutes and I witnessed the most boring training session I have ever seen. Perhaps I was not a Man Utd fan like most of the 50,000 people who turned up. I was even more of a Malaysia fan and being a patriotic person unlike most of them.

However before the match, I was taking pictures of the crowd and I managed to grab this picture. You guess what it is?

Even during the training session. the response was overwhelming it was reportedly 50,000 people went to the training session. How I wish I was not one of them as I just said it was a waste of time.

Next up it's the match day. The match was at 530 pm but due to heavy amount of people expected to turn up to the massive 70,000 all seater stadium Bukit Jalil. I started my journey after my tuition which was 2pm. You might think I am a crazy person but guess what? The LRT towards the Bukit Jalil station was full with Man Utd fans. Once again, I crammed myself inside but thank god this time the air conditioned was okay. I reached the stadium and once the train reached the station, everyone like a typical Malaysia was rushing as if they were chased by a tiger.

What's worse to come is that I reached at 245pm and I have to wait for another 2 freaking hours! But thank god because we reached there early we were lucky to have a superb seat with clear view from one end to the another end. We ( Nic, XY, and my little bro Kevin) were waiting for 2 hours and then the both teams turned up for the training before the match. Soon, both teams started came out and everybody was going so crazy! But sadly I was one of the people in the full Man Utd crowd who supported Malaysia but I wore a Man Utd shirt.

A sea of Man Utd fans. The match started with goals from Wayne Rooney and Nani. I felt that the two goals was because of a poor defensive plan from the Malaysian side. I was already expecting an easy match with Man Utd side scoring more goals. Then the first half ended with the score 2-0 to the Red Devils. Then the Malaysian side made a history, MOHD AMRI YAHYAH scored from a volley out of nowhere and stunned the crowd. He was the first person to ever scored against the Man Utd side. As a Malaysian fan there I was thrilled and happy at the same time. What really dissapoint me was, many numbers of Malaysian with Man Utd was not even supporting and when Malaysia scored they just sat there like nothing was happening. Come on ! If you aren't happy of a Malaysian scoring against the English Champion, what else can you be proud of ? In addition, Man Utd squad was here for holiday and don't you tell me you aren't expecting Man Utd to score in this match? I wonder how some of them were can crazily shouting when Man Utd scored. 6 minutes later, a mistake from Ben Foster proved costly as AMRI YAHYAH the number 17 scored again. Who would ever expect 15 minutes ago. the Malaysian side could equalised 2-2.

From then on, everyone in the stadium was shouting OWEN! OWEN! OWEN! Then SAF responded by replacing him with Anderson if I'm not mistaken. He scored a superb goal in his debut for the reds. It was an emotional moment for him as it was his first match after his transfer from Newscatle. So full time, the match ended 3-2. Although Malaysian side lost by a one goal margin, they can leave the stadium with their heads up because they tried their best and by scoring two goals against Man Utd which had really entertained us.

Group picture before heading back home.
